This Luxembourg contract was issued in May 1953 to FN Herstal for a total quantity of approximately 200 rifles. This series of rifles was the very first attempt by Fabrique Nationale Herstal to produce a successful semi-automatic rifle in the late 1940s/early 1950s. This is an excellent example of a post-war FN Model 49 semi-automatic sniper rifle produced by FN Herstal for the Luxembourg Army.
